X3-SP10 Map widget not rendering satellite data

I'm trying to use the new Map widget in SP10 to pull in a satellite image but getting nothing but a grey box. I can zoom way in to see the GPS track but the satellite image wont render. I notice in the map properties there's a URL to the tile server and wondering if this could be a firewall issue?

The PC's I'm on are work computers with corporate security policies in place. I can however access the internet.

If you think this could be a firewall issue, can you provide direction on exactly what should be allowed through? I will need this information when asking IT for a firewall exemption.

If you think its not firewall related, please help diagnose.

we would need some additional information about your application.

From the description that you wrote I would assume that you are trying to insert the 3D module to the GPS track, correct? If this is the case you need to add another widget - 3D module.

Here you can import the module and then add the module instead of the arrow to the GPS map.

Are you trying to insert the static satellite image? Which MAP VC are you using, because now we have a new MAP widget and before we had GPS MAP widget.

The firewall can have an impact on the MAP widget, so maybe you can try to disable it for a test.

Yes I'm trying to use the "Map" widget to add a static satellite image.

I do not have the 3D Model on one of my machines, I do however see it on my lab PC which are on the same version.

Using the Gokart_Raceland demo datafile as an example, this is all that appears.

Our IT person was able to connect to both of these map URL's via Telnet.

What I can see from your screenshot is that the Opacity level is 0. You can change it with the marked slider.

Changing the opacity has no affect.

I've also tried to "download" the map layer, and although the status bar progresses and shows Download Complete, I'm left with a group of ten folders (named 1-10) which are all empty.

probably the firewall is blocking an access to our servers. Maybe a workaround is, if you have an additional PC which don't have an firewall to download the layers and then used them on other PC with the Firewall.
