In analyze view when I hover over the Channel Info cell, I get a pop out window with the channel properties. This is really important information I'd like to copy into reports or at least have easier access to for reference.

Does this info exist anywhere else? Seems like it should exist on the "Information" tab in the Channel Settings window (Setup button).

I cant even screen shot it because the pop out disappears the second I press a keyboard button.

Dear Lemmy

I'm affraid that this is not possible as those information refers to the Setup file. The setup file can be extracted as XML. In the export tab you can set all channels to Unused and toggle on "Export setup to XML". Yet this will give you data to the copy/paste form only.

I'm thinking whether would be possible to add some more properties to Texbox widget which may solve your problem. Can you let me know which info would interesting you exactly? I will check with the development team whether we can add some more.

Here is a reference on how the TextBox widget works at the moment (manual: https://manual.dewesoft.com/x/measure/displaydesign/viscontrol/textbox)

Hello Matic,

Unfortunately, neither of the solutions you suggest is very convenient.

Exporting to XML creates a very lengthy file that is cumbersome to scroll through and find the pertinent info

And although I didn't realize you could define expressions in a text box (great feature) I don't really want to code a text box every time to retrieve channel information.

Ideally, what I visualize (if you can't add it to an existing tab) is an additional tab in the Channel Setup window that has all the text from the Channel Info pop-out screen; Measurement type, Range, LP filter, Bridge mode. Basically everything in the pop out

Also very useful in the event someone needs to look back on old data and see how the sensor was setup

I and several other people have asked for this feature. My company is trying to get ISO certified this year and configuration information is required to be in our output. It of course can be done manually, but we literally run a hundred tests a day, so automation is the only way it’s viable. So I am going to have to write a xml parser to grab this information and then an export plugin, or more likely just replace a large portion of dewesoft with a few lines of python or dig into the DS calibrator files as it has access to this information (program used to calibrate the hardware)

Hi,

From my point of view there are two similar requests but slightly different still

  • Lemmy would be happy to have the information available under the Channel setup tab. For him, the most important is to have it available under properties and on the other hand is not necessary to have it accessible on the Display. Lemmy sent a nice suggestion
  • Gary would rather have the info available in the Display tab so he can use it in the reports. That would mean that the data should be available to be assigned to the widget.

Both requests are suitable. I will check with the dev team what is the most efficient way.

Hello,

After the discussions we concluded that the Channel information (Bridge mode, Channels, Excitation, etc.) will be added to the Information tab. Those information will be adapted to the type of the channel. For example, AI channels will have different data available compared to Math channels.

For those who want to have this information available as a part of reports you will be able to add the information by entering an expression in the TextBox widget. One expression will define all "channel info".

Please note that there is no ETA yet. I will keep you update about the progress.
