Video Acquisition Memory

A Sam

Hi,

Sometimes during a video acquisition in Dewesoft I noticed the buffer overun notification on the top right turns red and the video recording pause for a second until the notification turns normal again. See attached picture.

I noticed a setting under Settings/Performance/Memory/Video Memory, which is set at 128Mb. Would increasing this value help me with the above issue. If so whats the max value I can enter, my computer has 16gigs of RAM.

Thanks

Hi,

the maximum memory that can be reserved for video acquisition is currently limited to 256 MB. Having more RAM won't help much because DEWESoft is a 32-bit application, so it can't use all of the memory that is available. If your video buffers are getting overrun, then increasing the video memory should be able to help. If you aren't using a lot of other memory consuming operations (such as large calculations), you can increase it to the maximum, otherwise I'd recommend to slowly turn it up and see if it helps.
