Hello Dewesoft team,

I would like to ask for help with one feature of DewesoftX.

When a lack of disk space is detected during measurement and data saving, the saving is stopped (which is correct :-) and the measurement is also stopped :-(.

As I use DewesoftX for recording and controlling (via CAN) long-term tests, sometimes the disk on the PC fills up and the measurement ends.

So I'm wondering if it's possible to just stop saving the data and not stop the measurement in progress.

Thank you Best regards,

Ales Faifr

Dear Faifr,

Sure you can interrupt measurement, i.e. Stop correctly, if the disk level is critical.

In order to achieve that you should enable System monitor module and set the "DiskFree" channel to used. Under the limits you can arbitrary enter how much disk you would like to remain before stopping the measurement.

Then under Storing options you will set Stop storing condition on this channel.

I hope this helps

Thanks for support,

I probably worded the question wrong, the question is: how not to stop the measurement and only stop saving data when there is not enough disk space.

thank you very much

one idea: setting a trigger value that turns off saving before the trigger occurs, which is defined by default (in the system) (probably cannot be changed) and also turns off measurement

Dear Faifr,

How do you consider "only stop saving"?

Please find a video attached. I created a setup file with user input for simulating a trigger. On the above right corner you will see a message about stop storing (i.e. saving a data) while acquisition is still running. The setup file is attached also.

What do you see as mismatch to your requirement?

@DEWESoft SupportHello,

the video example explains a lot.

My experience is that if I set a saving (for example 45 seconds), then after this time the measurement (acquisitioning) stops, which must then be started again. The same behavior will occur if you run out of disk space. At the same time, the CAN communication gets stuck and the last CAN command is repeated until it is stopped manually.

Now, unfortunately, I can't verify the behavior of our system because I'm out of the lab this week. But within the next week I have to trigger this phenomenon again and try to find the thing that causes it.

Best regards,

Ales Faifr

From your description I'm not clear on how the scenario looks like.
