I have used the sendmail plugin on several systems.

For a system on a remote location (serviced with a Teamviewer connection) I have problems with sendmail.

This system runs X2 SP10 (like all of my systems). The sendmail plugin was not installed when the system was setup, so I had to add it.

To add the plugin, I did the following steps:

  1. download the sendmail plugin
  2. copy the files in the X2/Addon folder
  3. start dewesoft (as admin) and refresh the extensions to register the DLL
  4. restart dewesoft
  5. the plugin is now avaliable. So far so good.
  6. I enter the same e-mail settings as always (I use a gmail mail account for this)
  7. The test-email does not work :(

I am fully sure I entered the correct mail settings. It works on other systems.

The PC is connected to the internet and is able to send e-mail (I also use VBscipts to send some status reports and that works)

How can I find what is wrong? The plugin does not give any feedback on whether the mail works or not.

Appreciate you help!

Best regards,

Harm

Hi,

did you use the same e-mail of the sender like on the other systems? If you have used an other email, you have to enable less secure apps (https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps) if you use gmail. When I use the plugin with the setting on the picture it works.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I use the same account and settings as on the other systems. And on the Gmail account, the less secure apps are enabled.

I use a different SMTP-port (465) that works on my other systems, but using the same port as you do does not make any diference.

So I am still lost here...

Next step will be a full reinstall of X2 SP10 including the plugin, but that should not be necessary.

Best regards,

Harm

if you added the plugin after the installation, that shouldn't have an impact on the performance of the plugin. One other option you could try is to disable the firewall for a short time or add the appropriate exception.

Hi,

Yes, I agree with you that it should work, but unfortunately, this is not the case.

I have also tried with fully disabling the firewall and that did not help.

So now I have just reinstalled X2 SP10, with the installation I used the "old settings" and without any further changes, the plugin now works.

So I still do not understand why adding the plugin to an existing installation was not succesfull, but a reinstall of X2 helped to make the plugin functional.

I do not like to experiment any further on this system as it is on a remote location, but I will try again on another system that I have in the office.

Harm
