Rosette setup and unit output discrepancy
I'm working in the Rosette math setup.
In the Strain and Stress Units portion of the setup window I can select my Stress output unit via the dropdown selection (PSI in my example). But over in the Output portion of the window, the units default to something other than what was selected from the dropdown (N/mm2 in my example). Furthermore, in the main channel output the units are again, N/mm2.
I need to know, what are the units I'm recording; is it N/mm2 or PSI? I realize the Units field is user-editable but why doesn't it at least change based on the dropdown selection?
This could pose a problem if the recorded units are PSI but the label says N/mm2.

Dear Lemmy,
I would need some additional information about this issue.
I was testing this on my site with the 2020.1 version of DewesoftX software and could not reproduce it on my site. The units that I choose in the math settings are always considered. See attached picture.
Which version of the software are you using?

On your end do the units change with the selection in the dropdown or are you manually entering the units?
I can manually edit the units but it does not default on its own to the dropdown selection
Customer Support Engineer
Dear Lemmy,
yes, I change the units from the Drop-down menu. See attached video.
Would it be possible that you share the data file that you are using? Also there is a slightly newer version of the release RELEASE-201013.
What are the units of your input channels? Are the input channels Analog input or are they math channels?

In the OUTPUT portion of the setup window, cycle to Sigma1, Sigma 2 or von Mises stress and then try changing the units in the drop down. You'll see the channel units change but the behavior is abnormal and the change only applies to some of the channels depending on which output you have selected. Each output (Sigma1, Sigma 2 or von Mises stress) has a different behavior.
Furthermore, typing something in manually appears to "lock" the units and prevents them from being updated; until you manually type in a valid unit like PSI. But then its back to the abnormal behavior .

Dear Lemmy,
sure the Strain output units refer to the Strain output channels and the Stress output units refer to the Stress output channels. Can you create a new Rosette math and try to change the units from the drop-down list and let me know if the units will change properly.
True when you change the unit manually - not from the drop-down menu - this unit is locked and do not response to the Drop-down list anymore. Is it possible that you change the units manually and that this is the reason that the units are nor responding to the selection on the drop-down list?
Regards
I'm concurrently working with one of your Application Engineers on this as well and he is able to reproduce the issue.
Attached is a screen capture and result of what I see on my end. Pay particular attention to the unit changes once Sigma 1, 2 and Von Mises is selected

Dear Lemmy,
I was also able to reproduce the issue on my site. So the issue is that you are looking on a specific channel in the Rosette math module and in this case the units in drop-down menu are not taken into account.
I will report this as a bug. Please also inform our AE about that.

Dear Lemmy,
we would like to inform you that the issue "Chosen units from the drop-down menu in Rosettes module are ignored" was resolved in the new 2020/2/RC-201105 version of Dewesoft, which is already available on our web site or it can be updated via our "Check for update" functionality within the software.

Just FYI,
The unit selection issue is still present after updating to RC201105.
Multiple PC's running the update are exhibiting the same behavior so its not isolated to a single install.
Thanks

Dear Lemmy,
the issue that you pointed out on the video was fixed. I have made an additional test, where I do not see the same behaviour.

Okay.
Sorry for the mix up. I see what's going on. You're on 2020.2 (RC-201112).
I'm on 2020.1 Release-201105 which was the latest version when I checked last.
I do not see 2020.2 available on the website as an official release.
Screenshot shows what I see on the downloads page of the website (looks like RC-201118 is available as of yesterday).

Dear Lemmy,
no problem:) This was fixed in the RC version.
We are planning that the new release 2020.2, which will have this fix will be released in December.
