pdf printing problem with report display

Hello,

when printing in pdf (I tried multiple pdf printers) a display in "report" mode, the different text boxes are not displayed correctly.

If I want the different texts to appear on the printout, I have to click on each text box on each page of the report in “analysis” mode before switching to print mode. It's tedious.

Also, when printing, I systematically have a bug that causes the text in certain text boxes to appear in very large characters. Part of the text is therefore not printed. I usually have to print a second time using a different pdf printer, and then it works. It doesn't seem to be related to the pdf printer used, because whatever it is, the first print fails and the second works...

Also when I zoom in on a camera widget in the analyse tab, the zoom disappears when printing and the whole image of the camera is printed.

Am I the only one to face this problem ?

Thank you for pointing out the issues.

We're not aware of that issue, neither nobody has reported the same to us.

Trying myself a little bit I also couldn't replicate the problem.

Can you share a Datafile with us and some step-by-step on how to reproduce?

Do you see the problem in the "Review" pane in DewesoftX or when you open the PDF that was generated by DewesoftX?

I prepared a document with a description of the bugs I encounter and the way they appear with screenshots but I can't manage to share it here as the message "file to big" pops out when I drag my file in the attachments box below (the file is only 2.7 Mo)

I cannot share the datafiles of my tests with you because of Corporate cybersecurity policy. So I made a simple datafile from an almost empty configuration i which I created a report display with 2 pages and 2 text boxes on each page. The same appears with this file : if I don't click on every page and scroll from top to bottom on each to display all the text boxes in "analyse" tab, then, they don't appear in "print" tab neither on the generated pdf.

I cannot manage to reproduce the bug with the text printed in huge characters as this one is not systematic...

And I cannot manage to share this file either as the message "file to big" pops out when I drag the .dxd in the attachments box below (the file is only 1.1 Mo).

Is there another way to communicate ?

Hello Charles,

The file size limitation for PDF documents were 1MB for some reason. Now we raised it 25MB so you can try again to upload the document with the screenshots and DXD file.

Thank you for the files. It makes sense now to me. I can reproduce the same in 2024.4. With this regards two issues were submitted to the development

• Widgets doesn't appear when printing multi page Report display
• Zoom is reset on Video widget when printing Report page

I will keep you informed when any of them is fixed and released in DewesoftX.

One of the issues were already solved. That is

• Zoom is reset on Video widget when printing Report page

The fix was just released in the newest "development" version 2025.1/DEV-241022 which is already available on Download Center on this link: https://dewesoft.com/download/dewesoftx-development-preview. Note that you should be signed-in to Dewesoft account to access the unstable -development versions. In the next release cycle the fix will be available in the Release candidate version. 

In order to update directly from DewesoftX you can click to "Check for updates" and follow the installer.

The fix "Textbox can cause other widgets to not display when printing multi page Report display" is now available in 2025/1/RELEASE-250317.
