OPC UA Client username and password

I started using OPC UA client and I noticed the plugin was not able to handle the secured connection with username and password. Our Siemens PLC required a security layer and therefore we had difficulties to connect to the OPC UA server. Only guest login seemed to work in this case. Can a username and password login be added to the OPC UA client plugin please?

we have already in plan to improve the security for the OPC-UA client plugin. This will be in plan for the new 3.0 version of client and will be implemented next year.

Do you have an update for the updated OPC-UA security? Do you still plan to release version 3.0 by the end of 2021?

Sorry for the delayed answer. The plan of the release Client v3 is delayed and will be released in 2022. We have the plan for adding security level aslo, but might not be included in the initial release of v3.

I'll keep you posted about the progress.

Dear Alexander,

let me will answer this question. OPC UA client currently still only supports anonymous mode so a secured connection with username and password is not possible. The feature is on the develoment backlog.
