New Text Box widget

How do I stop a user editing the textbox in recorded data? (or a live acquisition). The old text was nicely fixed unless under deliberate design.

Hello Dear Steven,

The new widget was designed to be editable in the measure mode. There is a workaround to use the old text box widget -> you can enable the old widget in the system settings, please refer to the attached image.

The old version of the text box widget is currently still available but will be deleted in the future.

If needed, you can find more informations about the new Text box widget.

Kind regards,

Damien.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, but...

Dewe need to keep a simple text object that is just for labels etc. It's standard practice to have labels, titles, notes on displays - that can't be edited by a user!

Touching the textbox pops up undesirable options in any case when viewing live data,

So you need both widgets!

And start to add some string functions into functions - would be really useful without coding!

Dear Steven,

The developers will improve the new Textbox widget and will add functionality where the text box will be in "non-edit" mode by default. When double clicking on the widget the text box will change to "edit" mode. We will notify you when the feature will be available.

Kind regards.

Hi

It's a good start - but we don't want users to be able to edit the test at all! (unless deliberately going into design mode)

Changing the text to textbox seems a very big move - AND upgrading Dewe to latest version changed all my default fonts and colours - now I can't use Yellow text which was our standard! Just keep fixed text and textboxes separate - please.

Hi,

TextBox widget has to be double clicked for edit mode since 2023.2 version. This works either or Design mode enabled/disabled.

Hi - replying here but may start a new topic. 2023.4 textbox widget appears to not have the delete or backspace functional - I can't edit mistyped words! - any ideas?

Hello,

we are aware of the issue, but are so far having no luck in replicating it.

The current workaround, if you wish to change the text, is to select the part of the text you'd normally delete/erase, and then write over it.

We are doing our best to fix the issue as soon as possible.

Best regards

One up on this one. Additionally, previous releases have allowed me to use swedish letters while the current text box severly malfunctions with those. It always shows the correct text when text box is open but not when it closes, then the letter changes... However, it works if I change font between non swedish and swedish letters.

I have also experienced that "delete" does not work within input boxes from 2023.4 either or am I alone in this?

Try typing with caps lock on or off - It sort of works allowing delete in one condition - of course getting the text you want is difficult! Dewe programmers have misinterpreted a keyboard intercept somewhere - and depend too much on the latest directx installation!

Hi basket random

When viewing live data, touching the textbox always brings up undesired possibilities. Try typing with the caps lock on or off - it sort of works, enabling deletion in one case - but obtaining the text you want is hard.
