New multifile series during measurement

Hello,

I am trying to find a solution to create a new multifile (series) during a measurement without interruption.

We need to process statistical data from measurements every week and not interrupt the testing process during the measurement. We also need a closed multifile series for processing. And continue to save to a new series of files.

Now this is solved by a small test interrupt, which also includes a reboot of test equipment, which is time consuming.

So I will ask for guidance on a possible solution.

Thank you, Ales

Dear Aleš,

thank you for reaching out to us. If I understand correctly, you would like to make new Multifile sets/clusters without having to stop datafile storing. Unfortunately, this will not be possible, as all datafiles that are stored under the same Arm/Disarm session will be stored under the same multifile set. To create a brand new set of multifiles, we therefore have to briefly stop data storing (please see the Orange Store button in the upper left corner):

By definition we consider multifiels to be datafiles that were recorded during the same recording session (arm+disarm event) that have the same name (with the exception of the suffixes), and the same setup and project file.

A workaround, that is by no means ideal, would be to name files with a variable, and change the variable right before you'd like to start a "new set" of multifiles. Please do keep in mind that, theoretically, the datafiles will still be located under the same multifile set, but you will only be able to analyze together the datafiles that have the same variable. As you can see, this is not the most elegant solution - in my case, I had to analyze the last datafile with the variable First with the Second cluster:

I have added my setup file in attachments. To make matters easier, I used our Trigger action plugin that I used to start/stop measurements and make new multifiles.

Due to the fact that this is a rather finnicky solution, we would strongly recommend starting/arming and stopping/disarming acquisition, either manually or with the use of triggers, so that a new multifile set is created, as this will greatly reduce the possibility of datafile corruption.

Best regards,

Pika
