Modal Geoemtry Bug in Rotation of Measurement Points
Hello together,
on the Version: 2023.1 (RELEASE-230123) (64-bit) i have experienced a bug, when you need to rotate your measurement point in the modal geometry.
When i try to rotate the measurement point around its x-axis, it basically does a rotation around its z-axis. If i rotate around the z-axis it does the rotation around the z-axis as intended.
So The X-Rotation and the Z-Rotation do the same thing. Therefore i cannot rotate the Sensor-directions as needed. If both are applied they add up.
See the pictures i attached for this.
This bugged me multiple times now (at older versions aswell), and i thought i was just too stupid, while adjusting them, but i pretty sure now, that this is a bug.
Best regards
Daniel

Dear Daniel,
thank you for reaching out to us. I have reported this to our developers and will notify you when the issue is resolved.
Kind regards.

Hi Gregor,
thanks for your fast reply :)
Best regards

Dear Daniel,
we would like to inform you that ModalGeometry was improved and now supports Intrinsic and Extrinsic rotation notation. For more information about the two rotation notations please refer to our online manual ModalGeometry.
Kind regards.

Hello Gregor,
saldy the changes did not affect the inital problem.
Imagine when you want to measure a cube the 4 veritcal surface.
--> i want the X- direction looking upwards, and (see black arrow)
--> the radial direction ( red arrow)
-------> This is not possible because the rotation in X and Z direction do the exact same thing.
When rotationg -60 in X and -60 in Z direction i get the same result as with X=0 and Z=0
This is just not correct.
yes i could use a cylindiral coordinate system but it much more complicated for difficult structures, ---> maybe aworkaround, but surely is still a bug in the software.

Dear Daniel,
thank you for reaching out to us. There are two rotational conventions that can be used: Intrinsic and Entrinsic. The formulas for each are written in online manual. Would you please be so kind and check which representation you are using?
Kind regards.
@Gregor Šmit
Dear Gregor,
i did before but i did not find it like in the guide.
But searching more i found then it ( a little hidden though)
But yes the extrinsic is doing what i wanted.
Best regards
Daniel
