Matlab Export Issue

Hi I am having the following issues when performing multifile exports to matlab running Version: 2023.3 (RELEASE-230525) (64-bit)

Occasionally a file will generate the following Error

  1. Matlab export: Channel: Data1_AI_3_Temp_minus_Temperature has more samples written than data count information reported in the datafile. If this is math channel please recalculate it.
  2. Occasionally one of a set of files (but not one that causes the above error) will export with only the first channel of data
  3. Header data exports incorrectly, most of the header data exports (to a .m) just fine but some of the header data will export the next or previous header data rather than the correct one for that particular variable.

Are any of these known bugs?

Thanks

Dear @Tristan Jones,

thank you for reaching out to us.
I took a look at our old customers' tickets, as well as our old tickets from the developers. I haven't found anything related to only the first channel being exported, nor have I found any cases where the header data would export the next/previous header data rather than the one set for the variable.

I did, however, find that the error you are describing is a known bug in DewesoftX version 2023.3. I would therefore recommend you update to a newer version of the software (the earliest version without this bug is 2023.4) . If the other two issues you have described persist in the newer version as well, please report this back to us.

In cases, when DewesoftX users report bugs/issues to us, we need images/videos that show the issue, as well as descriptive steps of what they did to get the bug. If there are error messages involved, we need the log files, and, in general, it is always useful if we can get the .dxd files the issues are present in, as that helps us reproduce the issue (us reproducing the errors/bugs is one of the key steps in reporting them to the developers).

Please let us know if the MATLAB export errors persist after updating to a newer version of dewesoftX.

Best regards,

Pika

Hi,

I am unable to upload any files. However some more details on the header issue. I have tracked it down to the name of the data header (not the Unique ID) having a space in the name, for example "Test Temp, Serial Number" will not not export the header info correctly. However if it is "Test_Temp, SerialNumber" ie no spaces it seems to export fine.

Dear Tristan,

have you updated DewesoftX to a newer version?

If so, could you please let us know if all the issues you have been experiencing in 2023.3 are still there in the newer version? Which version did you update the Software to? Which issues are you still having?

Since you are working with multifiles, are you exporting the files separately or all together? If you are exporting them all together, what happens if you export them separately? Do they all experience the same issues?

I am attaching a solution on how to share datafiles with us, just in case the issue is in the datafile size. I believe you should also be able to send the data over via the forum, if the files are compressed to a .zip file type.

If the issue is data confidentiality, is there any way you could create dummy data files that will display the issues you are experiencing, and not compromise your tests?

I have tried to replicate the Data header issues in DewesoftX 2023.6, but was not successful. Since you are talking about Unique ID, did you perhaps mean Global variables instead of the Data headers?

Could you provide images of what you are experiencing, or perhaps a video of what you do to get the bugs?

I did do a few tests in DewesoftX 2023.3, and and did notice that when I used the underline (_) in the name of the input, the second word of the value (Hello World got deleted). Is this what you meant? As mentioned previously, in 2023.6, I got no such issues. Could you please clarify further?

Best regards,

Pika

For some reason, not all images loaded properly;

Hi still running the older version as it takes quite a long time to get new versions of software approved for use.

Dear Tristan,

thank you for the update.

Since you cannot share the datafiles, is there any chance that you could share the images of the issues you are experiencing and the settings you are using when exporting?

I sadly cannot do much until I can reproduce the bugs. The developers also made some fixes regarding the matlab export in DewesoftX 2023.6, and I would like to check if the issues got resolved.
Any information regarding the exported channels that caused the issues, and the export itself would be of much help.

Alternatively, you could wait for approval of a newer version, and report if the issues still persist. Since it takes a while to get software approval, I would suggest updating to the newest version- 2023.6, since a number of Matlab bugs got fixed in this version.

Best regards,

Pika
