Keep channel settings when hardware isn't present

Hello,

I have a dewesoft setup file that has been created on a rig with lots of dewesoft KRYPTON hardware. I want to use the same setup file on a lab bench with less hardware, make changes and then also be able to use the changed version on the rig. This means I can change and test small things without taking up time on the rig.

Unfortunately when I make changes at the bench, Dewesoft X2 notices most of the hardware is missing and removes the channel information (names, gains offsets etc). When I make changes on the bench and try to move now modified setup file to the rig all the channel information is erased even though the hardware is present again, so all the names are reset to 'AI1', 'AI2' etc instead of 'Inlet temperature', 'outlet temperature' etc.

Is there a way to make changes to a hardware-heavy setup file without the hardware present?

I hope I have explained this well enough?

Regards & Thanks.

Hi,

the answer to your question a combination of yes and no. We offer a "simulation mode", in which you're able to defined which channels you want to simulate and you can perform the same operations on them as you would with real hardware. If you load a setup from a hardware configuration, the available amplifiers will also be automatically set depending on your setup file (assuming you've added AI channels in the settings).

The problem is that only DEWE-43 and Sirius amplifiers are supported. We're going to add Krypton amplifiers to simulation mode in the near future, but I can't say exactly when that will be.

This feature might still be useful to you depending on how many USB devices you have in your setup. If the amplifier of your Krypton channels is diferent from the available Sirius amplifier, then you will lose those settings when you'll switch back to real hardware. You will however still keep the channel names and formula relations if you use channel remapping.

Here's a link to a PRO training chapter about Simulation mode: https://training.dewesoft.com/online/course/how-to-set-up-dewesoft-x#simulation-mode

Hi,

Related to this question, why is it that when I go to Simulation mode, the options under Simulated Channels mode is greyed out ? I can't seem to select the file replay option.

Thank you

Hi,

you're probably using the 64-bit version, which doesn't yet include the file replay or sound card functionality. They should be added fairly soon.

Hi,

I'd like to inform you that we've actually just added Kryptons to simulation mode. The version that has this feature is X3 SP3. It's not yet available on our downloads section, but it should become public in this, or sometime in the next week.
