On SIRIUS units, is it possible to receive parameters from the CAN channel and use them within math formulae to calculate desired frequencies and amplitudes for various analog output waveforms from the unit using the function generator?


Also can an arbitrary waveform be created and output as an analog output from the SIRIUS unit? For example, can a sum of 4 sinusoids be output as a single analog output from the SIRIUS unit and have frequencies and amplitudes of each sinusoid controlled from received CAN parameters or from knobs on the GUI?

Dear John,


thank you for contacting us. It is possible to read CAN channels with Sirius device and use that channel in math formulas. In the attachment I am sending you an example file where the function generator generates function based on the math formulas.

Please be aware that the analog output from Sirius device as per manual is  ±10 V.

I am considering purchase of a system and do not have any Dewesoft devices. I am trying to load the .dxs file into the latest DewesoftX software and I am receiving channel errors.


Is there any way to run the software in a full demo mode since I am concerned about the capabilities of the function generator and can not seem to find detailed info on how to configure and run it via formula operation.

Dear John,


if you are getting AI 1 and AO channel Errors please switch operation mode from Real measurement to Simulation mode (Options-Settings) please refer to the manual. The example was made in the simulation mode. Simulation mode can be used when we don’t have any DAQ devices connected to our system and we want to simulate different types of channels to make an offline setup.
