I have a Sirius unit with db9 analog inputs. When I have a dsi-20 ma installed the wiring diagram shows a bnc connector or generic depending on if shunt power is turned on. If voltage is being read in it shows a terminal block sometimes. It would be super nice for new users for it match the actual hardware, clearly dewesoft knows what’s hooked up either due to internal configuration or due to the teds chip for dsi modules so it just an incorrect wiring db file.

Dear Gary,

in the channels setting menu, “Typical connection diagrams” parts of the measurement chain are shown:

  • Amplifier
  • Connections
  • Sensor

When you choose the input type without sensor excitation, there is only a current or voltage source shown. This does not indicate a BNC connector:

When the excitation is turned on, the picture changes to help you connect the wires to the correct pin.

To avoid confusion there is an additional tab where the picture of the connector can be seen, and if you hover over the pin the designated one is colored red:

Best Regards.

Perfect example, this a dsi-20ma adapter, which has a db9, but the connector shown is a terminal block. Additionally since it’s loop powered even the wiring pin out is incorrect.

Dear Gary,

this is an expected behavior because when the adapter is connected you have access to the pins on the adaptor because the DSUB9 on the device is used by the adaptor.

Maybe the connector pinout will explain further the wiring pins:

These are the terminal connectors:

Could you check the adapter and maybe send us a picture of it, because we also have a waterproof version DSIw-20mA.

In your messages, you are mentioning an ''dsi-20ma'', does your adaptor look like the one on the picture?

Best regards.

I am using dsi-20ma, the screen shots I sent show that. I know how to wire the connector. I just asking why dewesoft does not just show the correct connector but maybe I making the wrong assumption about the wiring database.

I'm sorry but I think there might be some confusion. I can confirm the fact from your initial post that

  • Dewesoft knows what is connected due to TEDS chip inside a DSI adapter.
  • DewesoftX adapts the wiring schematics and connectors to the DSI adapter and doesn't bother whether is DSUB9 on the amplifier's side. From our perspective that is not important anymore.

What we don't understand is

  • What would you like to have instead of DSI wiring schematic and connector type? DSUB9 to be presented?
  • Do you claim there is a wrong schematic? Can you point to it so we can double check?
