Excitation of analog input

I need to measure 4-20mA current sensors with “the external loop powered shunt” configuration through the SUB-D9 connector; With dewe-43 and dewe101, I have no problem because the pin 5 of this connector is 12V. Now with the DS-MINITAUR, STGM module, this pinout has changed and to get the 12V it is necessary to configure. In datasheet: Excitation Voltage Free programmable (16 Bit DAC)

1- How is it programmed?
2- Are the configurations of the DEWE43 with the
DS-MINITAUR (STGM module) incompatible?

Thank you.

Hi,

1. This is just a brief info of the DAC used to set the Excitation Voltage. Excitation is set or you can say "programmed" by the user in DEWESoft with the accuracy of 16 bit steps (65k steps). DEWESoft will accept input down do a 0,001 V (1 mV) step or select preset value from drop down menu. Total accuracy is defined in SIRIUS technical reference manual as +/-0,05% of setting and +/- 2mV.

2. Yes, on the DEWE43 you have two options, either you use an additional +12V or you can use the fixed Exc. = 10V (+/-5V) but you can have problems with not-isolated channels/sensors or there is not sufficient power for the sensor from 10V.

If you already have sensors and cables equipped with shunt resistors compatible with DEWE43 wired to +12V then those will not be compatible with DS-MINITAUR (STGM modules). You will have to rewire your sensors and adjust the setup files

There is also an option of using a 20 mA DSI adapter. More information about that can be found in the catalog.
