Dewesoft software takes an awful long time during startup
Dewesoft takes a very long time to startup (circa 1m 15s) on my PC and similar startup time on other PCs that uses Dewesoft in my work place. Unfortunately, this is nothing new in Dewesoft X3 and I have been observing this since Dewesoft 7 days. This is true even when you have multiple instances open and some of the tasks that it appears to do during startup seems pointless!. For e.g. what is the point of "checking for updates" during starting up every additional instances of Dewesoft. Can this startup time be improved?
the version on my desk pc launched in 10 secs. I also have DS deployed on multiple pc's around our lab and although the startup times vary, none of them are over minute.
Have you tried to do a complete uninstall including removing any orphaned files/folders?
Dear Dino,
thank you for reaching out to Customer support.
˝Checking device updates ...˝ means that DewesoftX is checking for available firmware updates of connected devices- it is not checking for the new DewesoftX release version. Checking for firmware updates is always done at startup, even if devices are not connected and it can not be disabled.
Could you please record a video of the startup screen, so that we can see exactly what you are experiencing?
Do you have any devices turned on and connected to the computer when you start DewesoftX?
I would suggest you test the startup time while you are completely offline- turn off the internet, and close all the applications you might be running, and make sure that the computer's CPU is as low as possible. You can monitor this in Task manager.
I would also suggest you disconnect all the devices and see if this improves the startup time.
You can also check exactly how long each each startup process lasts as well as the full Startup time. To do so, go to Settings, Files & Folders, Open system folder in explorer, find the Logs folder, then open the StartupProfiler.txt file.
Best regards,
Pika
Hi,
I experience the same issue, and have done so for many releases of DEWESoft X. It feels like it normally stalls on "Reading project ..." and thanks to the help in the latest post I found the log file and for this particular start the total startup time was 59076.7 ms, where 48615.0 ms was noted for "Reading project settings". Another test showed about 62 s with similar time spent on project settings. None of the listed sub-actions have any longer times listed (none above 1200 ms). Similar times applies to two of my most used projects. The image below is for a third test, showing similar times.
When creating a blank project this speeds up significantly, total time around 12s with minimal time spent on project settings.
When having DEWESoft X open and changing back to my normal projects, it loads the project for around 50 s, so similar times as during start-up. What in the project settings take this much time to load? Global variables (around 60-100 in the bigger projects), data headers (around 5-10 for bigger projects)? I don't see why as they take no time to import if forced import.
The same issue applies to closing the setup for these larger projects, the closing dialog is open for about 30 s before settings are closed.

Dear Benjamin,
thank you for reaching out to us and adding to the discussion.
From the image you have sent to us, we can clearly see that there is some sort of an issue, but we cannot determine what exactly is causing such long loading times. Could you please send us one of the project files with a long startup time? We would like to test this on our side and have a closer look at the issue itself.
Best regards,
Pika

Dear Benjamin,
I did not get a response from the web team yet, but could you please try checking if the submitting a support case works for you now?
Thank you.
