Can't write to TEDS chip

Hello,

I have designed a sensor with a DS2502 memory chip from MAXIM INTEGRATED (TEDS chip) that is OTP, add on memory of 1024 kBit.

The TEDS Editor software says it can't write to the chip, what is the reason ? It should at least once. Should I use something else to write the data of the sensor ?

Dear Maxime,

There can be many reasons why writing to chip wasn’t successful. 

First, may I ask if you were able to Read the empty chip. You have to find the device first and read the empty chip, before writing to it. 

Second, I would like to check if you have chosen the right chip in TEDS Device. You have to select DS2502.

Third, did you try to write only basic information to it or any templates as well?

Can I suggest looking in our manual, where under “Creating new TEDS sensor” you can find some useful information?

Thanks for your answer.

I can read and TEDS Editor automatically finds the right chip family (DS2502). I have 1 kBit free but can't write to it.

DEWESoftX also detects the chip but the "Write to TEDS" button is not available. As you can see I have the "TEDS Serial Number chip only, no data can be written." error.

Dear Maxime,

I have talked with our developers and the problem is the chip Write-only once characteristic. We are not allowing the write function to the selected chips, since we cannot guarantee that all bits will be written correctly. Bits can be updated to 1 from 0, but cannot be reverted back to 0 from 1. DS2502 is supported in Editor only for reading purposes.

I suggest using other software for writing to the chip or using another chip family, DS24B33 for example.
