Basic encoder frequency drop time

I'm using the basic encoder with the advanced counter option selected on a DEWE 43. The frequency measurement will persist for a while after the encoder stops spinning, then roll off to zero. How do I change this behavior to more quickly drop to zero? I see there is a frequency drop time, but cannot find any documentation of exactly how it works.

Frequency drop time does exactly what you are looking for: it sets the frequency to zero after set time from the last pulse.
