Hi all,

As I understand the color palettes in 3D Graph are changed (after the 2021.3 version I guess) so the color palette we were using heavily (Rainbow warm option) in 3D Graphs/FFT does not look the same anymore (we appreciate the newly added color palettes but the main three does not look like the same anymore especially the Rainbow warm option).

The new colors with the same color palette and scaling looks warmer (also dull, not as sharp) than before so we cannot match the previous graphs we have post-processed before with the newer versions of Dewesoft.

Is there a way to adjust the color intensity of the 3D Graphs as in LMS Testlab (or Matlab) in Dewesoft or that color palette/bar is fixed? If not can you please note this as a customer complaint so we can have the old color settings back in three main color Palettes (Rainbow, Rainbow warm etc.), thanks.

Dear Matt,

thank you for contacting us. The Rainbow warn color palette has been changed a little bit. The color palettes are defined in the subfolder of the DewesoftX: System\Palettes ((Rainbow (Warm).json). The color palettes definitions can be customized and the changes can be applied immediately by refreshing the palette (switching from the current palette to a different one and back).

Kind regards.

@Gregor Šmit thanks for your prompt reply, I will edit the newer one with the old settings then, thanks.

Hi again,

I have tried but the difference is huge and I guess this is not just a color setting issue, please see the attached picture comparing the recent two versions (2021.2 vs 2021.5), older version is more detailed and sharp. Because of this difference we could not update to the recent version as 3D Graph is our main analysis tool for Dewesoft files, thanks.

Dear Matt,

the difference should be just in color settings, our developers have not changed anything else. We would suggest that you try and match the color settings (in the palette json file), from your attached image the graph on the right contains more red color than the graph on the left. Would you be please so kind and tell us why is a color palette so important for analysis?

Kind regards.

Gregor,
Thanks for your prompt reply, it is all about consistency. We have GB's of data post-processed with version 2021.2 for more than 100 parts (more than 100 slides with the previous color palette settings), if we use the newer versions side to side comparisons does not make sense anymore and we do not have resources to do the all of the colormaps again.

We also do not have time for trying to match these settings (I tried to copy the color palette from 2021.2 into the newer version but the palette folder seems the same with 2021.5 version and there are more than 3 palettes there where 2021.2 only offers 3 palettes).
I guess the main settings for three main palettes are in a different place in 2021.2. In version 2021.2 the location you have stated previously has the same palettes with the 2021.5 version but you cannot select those palettes in the actual 3D Graph (there are only 3 options). Can you please give us the old settings for "Rainbow-warm" or the location of the previous color palettes so we can edit and see if we can match the 2021.2 version so we can update our Dewesoft sw and take advantage of the new features, thanks.

Dear Matt,

we understand the importance of consistency and the issues caused by the color palette change. The old color palettes were computer-generated and currently we do not have the json configuration files. I have talked with our developers and they will write a tool which will generate new json configuration files based on the old color palettes. We will send you the json configuration files as soon as they are generated.

Kind regards.

Dear Matt,

we would like to inform you that our developers have generated the .json configuration file for the old Rainbow Warm color palette. The .json configuration file is in the attachment. Please extract the zip to the palettes subfolder of the DewesoftX: System\Palettes. The color palette is named Rainbow_Warm_Old.

Kind regards.
