Hi,

getting an error with the following info once trying to register DCOM ;

Dewesoft DCOM Server (Clicked)- Register --> dewesoft.exe failed (err:2) on Windows 8.1

Our goal is add a module to send an analog output and recieve an analog input through dewesoft. Thanks. Mert

Hi,

we've seen a similar issue in the past. Please try running DEWESoft as administrator (right click on the icon and choose the run as Admin option). After that, run the DCOM registration file and register DCOM. Even though you will see the same message, the DCOM server should now be registered.

Please try the above solution and let me know how it works out for you. If you're still unable to use DCOM, then I'm going to need some more information to troubleshoot the issue like DEWESoft version etc.

Hi again,

I have tried as admin and updated the dewesoft x2 so SP8 and still got the same error. How can I control that the DCOM server is already registered?

Thanks again. Mert

Hi,

that's OK. If the registration was successful, you should see an App Object under the DCOM config folder. The way you access it is a bit different depending if you have 32 or 63-bit OS. This is explained in the DCOM registration guide that's accessible on this link.

Hi again,

I am following the DCOM manual. Unfortunately App Object is not visible. Please check the atteched picture.

My system is 64-bit.

Thanks

Mert

Hi,

just to confirm, did you make sure to launch the component services from the command prompt using this command: mmc comexp.msc /32?

If you did not, you won't be able to see the App object on a 64-bit OS.
