GPS Recommendations
Hi All, hope you are well.
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a fairly accurate GPS speedo / location system which works with Dewesoft X?
I was thinking maybe a VBOX / Racelogic unit, but I'm not sure if they are compatible. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great!
Andy
Dear Andy!
We can recommend our INS / NAV devices such as DS-IMU1, Navion i2 etc. But of course we also support other navigational devices. Devices which provide NMEA stream on RS-232 are compatible with our software through plugins (NMEA GNSS, NMEA compatible GNSS). For any additional questions regarding our devices you can contact [email protected]

Generally speaking, any GPS with CAN output will easily implement in DEWESoft, we have used the RaceTech speedbox, vbox, ECU Master (although I will note that ECU master as a company was not kind to me when I was simply trying to buy a few of their units; they straight out told me they don't want my business and not to contact them again because our company needed a simple form to get them in our ordering system) and we've use the Garmin GPS19x (note the GPS19x does not have any altitude, and it uses the NMEA2000 dbc file).
Additionally, we have used many USB GPS devices. While none of these are calibrated like our Race Tech speed box (also a great company), my favorite is the Digital Yacht Tri-Nav GPS160-USB; it has selectable output rates up to 18hz and in our experience has been very stable. USB-GPS devices are managed by Windows, and then Dewesoft accesses them as a windows device. I will also give Digital Yacht a bump, they are a great company to work with, excellent product and support. The ublox Gen 7 and up work pretty well too if you're looking for very low cost, like $25. Digital Yacht Tri Nav GPS160 is also available with CAN output if that is your preference.
