Encoder connection to Dewe43A

Good morning,

One of our clients wants to add an incremental encoder to a Dewe43A device where actually is taking measurements of torque and force.

I would like to know if it is possible to connect an encoder to the device. If possible, should I connect it to an analog input or a counter input? Do you recommend any type of encoder? Which should be its wiring?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Dear Axier,

When coosing an encoder please note that Dewe43 has a Sensor power supply of up to 10W total: 12 V, total limit 350 mA (Shared between 8xAI, 8xCounters, 2xCAN).

It would be best if you send us a datasheet of a encoder that the customer is interesded in and we will check compatibility.

In the picture below is a example circuit diagram on how to connect an encoder with a built in torque sensor to the Dewe43A. The sensor is a full bridge so there is no need for a bridge adaptor:

In this case both of inputs are used. Counter input for the ecoder and the analog input for the torque sensor.

Best regards.

Rok
