DS-Wifi Query

Hi

I am just beginning to setup my DS-wifi. One master and one slave.

When I have the wifi units connected, I'm assuming I simply use Dewesoft Net to control the slave from the master?

Thanks

Dear Stuart,

thank you for reaching out to us.

DS-Wifi is meant to provide point to point contact between two computers. You are correct, you can use Dewesoft Net to control the slave from the master.

I am including the DS-WIFI manual, the NET acquisition data F1 manual, and the Network and Distributed Data Acquisition Using Dewesoft NET PRO training.

When you are connecting the computers to Dewesoft NET, please make sure that you are entering the IP addresses of the computers and not the IP addresses of the WIFI.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Best regards,

Pika

Hi

Thanks for the response.

I'm struggling with part 4.4 in the manual. The version of win box is not the same as the one in the manual (3.21) and the wireless option at the left hand side no longer appears.

I had already, uploaded the new firmware to the router so I can now use 3.21 - I had tried to reset the router back to factory setting but this was not successful. Could you provide guidance in either how to perform step 4.4 in the newer version of winbox or a way to completely reset the master router.

Thanks

Furthermore - the master unit, will no longer connect at all - When I plug in the ethernet to the PC it begins to say Identifying and once the second beep occurs it says network cable unplugged even though it is plugged it. Is there a procedure for a full reset. I have taken to back off and pressed the small reset button but nothing has happened.

Thanks

Dear Stuart,

there is not much you can do on your own at this point. In general, you would have to send the devices to RMA, but the developers are willing to to fix this via Teamviewer.

If your workplace allows remote connections to your computer, please let us know when you would be available, so that we can coordinate a meeting with the developers.

If remote connection is not possible, you will sadly have to send the system to RMA for repairs.

Can I ask what's happened? Did the master and the slave not connect?

If remote connection is possible, please make sure that you have everything already prepared for us to connect.

You will need

  • WinBox 3.4.0,
  • Firmware for Wifi 4 -> 7.12
  • NetInstall
  • Both wifi networks available for us to connect on our request
  • Admin rights for configuring LAN card
  • Password you had to set in winbox.

You will also need something like a toothpick, so that you will be able to press and hold the reset button.

Here is a Google drive folder with what you will need. In general, everything can be found on this web page as well.

Please note that there are both the 32bit version as well as the 64bit version, so make sure you downloads the correct one.

I am also including the link for Netinstall, just so you know what it does.

For remote connection, you will need to install the TeamViewer Remote Desktop Tool from Dewesoft Downloads.

Then, you should send us the ID, so that we can connect to your computer.

Best regards,

Pika

Thanks Pika

That's great - yes we can do a remote connection. The urgency is reduced as we have been able to simply use a remote hotspot device and remotely control the slave unit using the internet rather than the DS wifi connection. So perhaps we can set this support up in the next few weeks.

I'm not exactly sure what has happened. I was able to connect to the master unit and did all the firmware updates etc, then as I said section 4 was different so I was unable to setup the wireless portion. While searching through the settings the unit disconnected and it has never been recognised since - almost like it is bricked. I have tried pressing the reset button but nothing happens. Is there a procedure for this reset - I have held it up to 60 seconds and nothing happens that I can see/hear.

I havent done anything with the slave unit and it still connects to the winbox etc so I dont believe its a problem with my adapter settings etc.

Dear Stuart,

you've mentioned the urgency having been reduced; if this is the case, you can try to use Netinstall to re-format the device's disk and copy fresh files over to it.

To sort of sum everything up; You should hold the reset button while power up-ing the device (wifi), until it is visible in NetInstall. After that, force the FW again and start the configuration from scratch.

Additionally, the developer has sent over the script for the configuration.

Please note, that you need to have the same Firmware on both wifies (devices).

I have downloaded two .txt files to the Google drive folder I've shared with you. You can find them in the folder ''configuration script''.

You should copy the two files into the script and then the wifi will get set on its own.

Before that, you will need to have factory settings enabled, and will have to set the password once you enter configuration. After that, you can enter the scripts and copy the whole configuration into it.

Best regards,

Pika
