Wiring Analog Sensor For Pressure

I am trying to wire An Omega PX319-300G5V and I cannot get it working. The issue I am having is with what the manufacturer recommends vs what the manual for the Kyrpton is telling me to do. I am wiring this in a 0-5VDC Configuration and First and second point are (0V,0PSI) (5V, 300PSI)

Dear Walker,

The sensor requires a 3-wire connection in order to work in a 0-5VDC configuration:

The 3-wire sensor has to be connected in single-ended mode.

In Dewesoft this cannot be selected because the excitation has to be used. And when the excitation is enabled the amplifier automatically goes into differential mode.

A short circuit between pin7 with pin4 will be needed, this will manually connect the input as a 3-wire single-ended mode with the option of powering the sensor.

Below is the recommended connection diagram:

  • Sensor analog output ground (black wire) is the same as sensor power ground = Pins 8 and 3 tied together,
  • STG pin 4 (Gnd) needs to be tied to 7,
  • Sensor power (red wire) should connect to pins 1 and 6,
  • The output signal (white wire) should go to pin 2.

This connection will manually set the Input type to Single-Ended which is required in case of Excitation powered 3-wire sensor (Power, Ground, Signal).

Best Regards.

Rok

Hi Rok,

So I tried how you recommended me to set it up but I am getting a negative number that is very high. The way I was able to get this to work was using:

  • Sensor Analog to pin 8 w/ jumper to pin 7
  • Sensor Power to pin 1
  • Output Signal to pin 2

I took some pressure data and compared it to our old system and the data is consistent when I input the correct calibration data and what not.

Is the GND connection on pin 4 internal to the Dewesoft Module?

@Rok Kmetič

What I mean by if the pin 4 connection is internal is if I have to have a wiring coming into pin 4 before I add the jumper into 4&7. All I did was just add the jumper.
