Current Measurement in Serial Line

I want to measure leakage current on the vehicle by using the 50 ohm shunt resistor of my sirius lv device. However, when i did serial connection from positive line of the vehicle, and measure it with the sirius lv current measurement wtih shunt, i see different values between dewewsoft and standart multimeter. What could be the reason ? Am i making a wrong connection ? Do i need to use an external shunt resistor ? Can you please help about the issue ?

Berkan

Dear Berkan,

we would need additional information, so we can support you with this issue.

How is everything connected? Can you provide a connection diagram?

How did you set the channel in DewesoftX?

An LV amplifier requires an external shunt resistor to measure current:

For a better understanding below is an explanation of how the sensor is connected to the device:

Dear Rok,

You can find the connection which i tried to do in below picture.

Except this connection, i tried to do without shunt resistance with the current measurement option of LV channel ( though it has a shunt internal in lv connector. ) But still i cant measure correct value.

Dear Berkan,

did you set the shunt correctly?

From the provided picture I noticed that you have a 0,4 Ohm shunt.

Set the External shunt to ''Custom'' and insert the values of the shunt resistor:

Dear Rok,

Yes i set it correctly. Could the LV channel be preventing the completion of the circuit ?

Dear Berkan,

in the previous post, you mentioned that you see different values between Dewesoft and standard multimeter.

How big is the difference?

There is also a possibility that the multimeter is showing wrong values...
