Setting up DEWESoft for a Tachometer
Hello,
I'm trying to get a RPM reading using a Monarch Tachometer. I have the tach connected to the DEWE-43 in the first digital input slot. I also added a new tachometer sensor to the counter sensor options, and I added the counter tab to the top of the program file page. I'm just kind of confused because there is so many settings and options. I can't get my RPM to read out when I wave my reflective tape in front of the light. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In channel setup for the counter you are using change your Basic application to Sensor and Sensor type to Tacho (Digital). Click the ... next to it and change gear teeth to 1. There is also a tape sensor selection but I have not used it. That is probably the better way to set it up but my way works too. Select the frequency channel to Used and change Physical unit to RPM. Set your min and max and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
I am running into trouble with the Monarch laser tach as well... when I set this up as a counter (tach), I get the counter to work, but no RPM (running at about 250 RPM, so not sure if that is the issue)
