Maximum frame rate of a webcam
Dewesoft support perfectly webcams to 30 fps. There are usb-webcams with higher sample rates. Is Dewesoft limited to 30 fps? Or depends the maximum frame rate in Dewesoft only on the webcam maximum frame rate?

Hi, t
he maximum frame rate depends on the camera. If the camera and its driver supports more than 30fps, then that frame should also work in Dewesoft.
Hi, I see that this is an older post. I'm wondering if I buy a 60FPS Logitech webcam, that I won't still be limited to the 30 FPS listed below.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Shawn,
Dewesoft just reads the values that DirectShow driver provides. If the driver allows 720p on 60fps, DewesoftX should as well. If there is a possibility to test on a selected camera, I would kindly ask you to test if the driver provides 60fps with a program AMCap (https://amcap.en.softonic.com/). When opening the program, you need to go under Options -> Video Device -> Capture Format.
Choose MJPG under compression and set output size to 720p. Try if the program allows frame rate to be set to 60.
In our office, we got our hands on a Logitech BRIO 4K USB, which can handle 4k/30fps, 1080p/60fps, and 720p/90fps. When connected to DewesoftX we were able to capture with those specified numbers. It allows us to raise fps to 60 or even 90 when in 720p. One limitation we discovered was that the scene has to be bright, so the shutter speed can be low enough to allow the desired amount of fps. If the camera should provide higher fps but it does not reach it, try setting exposure, focus and white balance to Auto.
Then direct it to the light source and it should reach the desired values.
Another test was made with Logitech C922 Camera, and we were able to get it to record at 60FPS in Dewesoft with no additional software adjustments in the AMCap software. The FPS was not an adjustable field until a very specific configurations in the software were made:
Even if the resolution is set to a lower value (such as 640x480), the maximum is 30 FPS. 60 FPS is only a valid option at 1280x720, as it is advertised by the camera manufacturer itself. The data was successfully recorded at the 60FPS rate (59.3Hz as measured by Dewesoft), so it seems to be related to the hardware's capability rather than our software.
Best regards.
